This Is A Day

The Apostle Paul wrote to the Romans, "It is time for you to awake out of sleep. . . The night is far spent, and the day is at hand." If the day was at hand when the Apostle wrote this statement two thousand years ago, think how much nearer is the day now than then! We therefore can truly say that this is A Day That is Fleeting By.

Everything about us points in the most positive manner to the thought that this dispensation is very rapidly closing. I am of the profound conviction that the end of this age is much nearer than most of us begin to imagine. Back in the post-war period following World War I, when many Bible students were proclaiming the nearness of the return of the Lord, I could not see their position; hence, I refrained from emphasizing the immanency of the Lord's return. But now for the first time in the history of the world the stage is being set according to the Scriptures for the enactment of the closing drama. In my making this statement, I refuse to set any dates, but in my calling attention to this most serious fact, I am simply being faithful to the Word and to the Lord.

Not only Bible students, but also scientists who care nothing about God's Word are telling us of the appalling darkness that is settling down upon this world and that is a certain indication of the closing scenes of this era. In view of these facts surely we all must acknowledge that this is A Day That is Calling for Heroic Efforts and Sacrifices.

This is a great day. Things are done upon a large scale. This is the day of wholesale transactions. This is the period of mass movements. In such a time as this the work of God demands heroic actions. The eyes of the lord are running to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong in the behalf of those whose hearts are perfect toward Him (II Chron. 16:9). Let us lay all upon the altar of sacrifice and service to our Redeemer in order to make known the gospel message to the four corners of the globe in the yet remaining short time.
